Job Summary

The Junior System Administrator will support managing and maintaining the organization’s IT infrastructure. Responsibilities include monitoring system performance, troubleshooting, and supporting daily hardware, software, and networking equipment operations. The role also involves installing and configuring operating systems, managing updates, and overseeing user accounts and access controls. Working with senior IT staff, the Junior System Administrator will address technical issues and respond to service tickets, ensuring system security and stability. Basic knowledge of Windows operating system, networking principles, strong problem-solving skills, and attention to detail is required.

Job Description

The Junior System Administrator will assist in managing the organization’s IT infrastructure, providing support for hardware, software, and network systems. The candidate will work closely with senior IT staff to ensure the IT systems’ smooth and secure operation and provide technical support to end-users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain system performance, including virtual servers, workstations, and networks
  • Install, configure, and update operating systems, applications, and patches
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls
  • Manage IPX, VoIP, Video, and Audio Conference systems
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues
  • Assist in IT procurements
  • Manage and Maintain IT assets in compliance with internal policies and external audit requirements
  • Respond to IT service requests and resolve technical issues promptly
  • Assist in maintaining data backups and disaster recovery processes
  • Ensure systems security by monitoring for vulnerabilities and implementing corrective actions
  • Collaborate with senior IT staff on system upgrades and optimization

Required Skills:

  • Sound knowledge of Windows operating systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
  • Ability to manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls
  • Experience with virtual servers, workstations, and network maintenance
  • Familiarity with cloud email solutions, anti-virus, and Firewalls
  • Experience with IPX, VoIP, Video, and Audio Conference systems
  • Ability to assist in IT procurements and vendor management
  • Knowledge of system security practices and vulnerability management
  • Experience with data backups and disaster recovery processes
  • Certifications like CompTIA A+, Microsoft (MCSA), or Cisco (CCNA) is a plus
  • The top priority is technical expertise in Windows OS, troubleshooting, networking, and system management, followed by communication and organizational skills
